DRUM CLASS: Lesson 1 - INTRODUCTION

My objective in teaching this class is to provide a workable way to better understand the playing and history of the hand drums. In this class you will learn rudiments, time signatures, applications, grooves, tone, tuning, and basic care for your drum.

A bit about the instructor:
Hello my name is Joshua. I have been playing hand drums since I was five years old. I grew up in a musical family, and I’ve studied many styles, and preformed at many venues. Drums have saved my life in a way and kept me out of trouble in many ways. I play the drums because I get a therapeutic release, a sense of centering and a creative way of communicating with some of the best people in the world, drummers. I play an acoustic drum set, an electric set, and many hand drums. I have played in bands for sixteen years with various groups. I have toured many times both as a percussionist and a traps player. I run and own Animal Productions, and help many local bands get their foot in the door. I truly believe music is an absolute essential in life and can truly improve your health and sense of grounded ness. I hope so meet some folks who are ready to get going on some drums and some folks who could use a brush up on skills, or even just some folks who are looking to jam.
